What We Did Today

Today has been one of those BLAH days. It's terribly humid out and it has rained off and on. BLECK! My little ones needed something to do! So, we made t-shirts! ;) On the backs of Lucky Charms boxes you will find iron ons! LOTS of fun!! We HAD 2 boxes but someone threw the first one away! That meant we had to share..... FUN! ;)

I had a fabric marker that I picked up for 50 cents so I added their names where they wanted them. ;)

I was VERY surprised at how well the iron ons worked! LOL I was not expecting much from the back of a cereal box. ;)

I also went through some of Cailey's books for the upcoming school year. I still don't have a definite "plan". I want to lean more toward unschooling but I am SOOOOO afraid to let go that much!! As it is the kids have a lot of control over the subjects and themes that they learn.  With Colin I don't think I'm going to have much choice, though! At least not anytime soon! He is VERY head-strong and any and all attempts to get him to do something that he doesn't want to do develops into a long drawn out battle. YILES!! But he is a smart kid and he picks a lot of stuff up with even trying. LOL He loves to learn science and history along with Cailey. He loves to count but as soon as you start teaching him the letters he shuts down. I guess I am just going to have to get more creative! LOL

I'll start putting together our first themes soon so if you are interested in the homeschooling part of this blog I will actually have something to share with you!! LOL If you are not, don't worry! There will still be plenty of sewing and craziness going on! LOL

I decided on my next sewing project! :) I will be doing the McCall's M6553.

M6553

I started cutting out the pattern pieces when I realized that I have no blue thread!!! LOL I'm hoping to pick some up tomorrow. Oh, yeah.. I have decided to make it in 2 shades of blue knit. ;) When you open the pattern envelope the first things you see are pictures of how you can change the pattern around to suit you. You can shorten into a high-low top, straighten out the bottom and lengthen it. Or you can do what I'm doing, take the center middle piece and make it a different color. I will NOT be shortening it into a mod style, though.... LOL My chunky legs were not meant for minis. ;)

I saw that Hopeful Threads has a new sewing for charity project up! You should go check that out!! And don't forget to look at other worthy projects you can be a big help to! I have a list of some HERE. There's no such thing as doing too little. ANYTHING you can do will make a difference to someone! It will make that one person feel special and know that someone, somewhere thought about them and wanted to help. That's an amazingly powerful thing.

If you decided to sew along with Hopeful Threads and want to make a drawstring bag, don't forget that I have a tutorial right here waiting for you! ;) The D Bag or Drawstring Backpack.

OH!!! And don't forget to enter my CONTEST!!! I forgot to put a time limit on entries when I first posted so we will go with Noon on Monday, August 13th. The winner to be announced no later than Noon on Tuesday, August 14th. Sound good?

  5. Thank you, Judy!!! :)
I haven't decided exactly when yet. LOL I am thinking the 2nd or 3rd week in Sept. Here in VA we can decide when as long as we do 180 days. We can take our breaks whenever we want to and for as long as we want. We take a lot of what I call Sun Days instead of snow days. LOL
