McCall's M6362 Is FINISHED!!

I finished it! :) YAY!!! I love it! It is so light and so airy.  I love the way it moves. The neckline is a little too low but I can just wear a tank under it. The whole thing is about a size too big but that's OK. I tend to like clothes like that to be roomy and comfy.  ;) If you are thinking about making it you might want to cut a size smaller, though. The pattern was very easy to follow. I was a little concerned about the pockets but they were super easy to do. :)  I will definitely be making a pair with the long pants for fall.

Now, what's next??? I have no idea.... I have several things bouncing around in my head but I haven't been able to settle on one of them.  Do I make a bag from the yellow and blue toile? Do I make the owl bag I have been thinking about??? Do I make a companion outfit for c1's Flower Power outfit??? Do I do the McCall's M6553 or the Vintage Vogue V8812?? I'm soooooo confused!!! Help me out here! LOL

While you're here don't forget to enter the CONTEST!!!! :)

McCall's M6362 Progress

ALMOST done!! YAY!!! I just need to finish attaching the back bodice to the bottom, hem and sew the sash! :) YAY!!!!!!  This pattern has been a breeze to follow!!! But I am starting to think I should have gone down a size..... LOL Anyway, it's says easy on the front and that has been very true. SHEW!!!!!

M6362

Don't forget, that pattern is on clearance for $3! ;)  Click HERE!!!!

I was putting the zipper in when the needle broke. Part of it flew up and hit me in the face.... LOL My 2nd oldest son (j2) said that I am the only one he knows that needs to wear goggles when they sew.... Gee, thanks... LOL  It would be SO much better with a zipper foot! WHY do I keep forgetting to get one???? Good grief!! I only remember right before I start putting one in!

I think once that is done I will make a purse out of the yellow and blue toile that I picked up the other day! :)

But then I have a few ideas floating around in my head and just might do those first...... LOL  I've been sketching a lot of ideas lately. Too bad I can't draw worth a darn! LOL

Either way it goes, I should be getting a new tutorial up soon. :)

Where do you look for inspiration? Do you just look at patterns? Or maybe stores? Pinterest?

I now have 3 tutorials up on AllFreeSewing.com YAY!!!!! :) It is SOOOOOO cool! LOL

So, tell me, what are YOU working on? Seriously, I want to know! LOL Talk to me! ;)

McCall's M6362 and GREAT News

I got started on the McCall's M6362 today! YAY!! It says easy on the package and so far that has been correct! ;) I'm thinking I ought to be able to finish it up tomorrow! :) I decided to go with the red jacquard since the back of the envelope suggested light weight fabrics and the views all show a light weight FLOWY fabric. LOL

Here's a look at the envelope.

M6362

I am making View A. OH, and by the way, that pattern is on clearance for $3 right now! Just click HERE! Yes, there I go being a pattern pusher, again! ;) LOL

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you my GREAT NEWS!!! I received an e-mail yesterday from AllFreeSewing.com and the editor liked the links that I sent in!! She asked for permission to link to my other projects! YAY!!!! AND I will be on the designer's page! WOOO HOOO!!! :) Isn't that AWESOME???? I love it!!!

I have been thinking about taking some design classes. That's my favorite part of sewing, taking an idea out of my head and making it come to life.  I don't know, though... Maybe when my youngest 2 kids are older.... School will be starting back soon and that will limit my time.

So, what are YOU working on???? I would LOVE to hear about it!!!

Upcoming Projects

I have a few projects that I am very excited about!! :) One of them will be a tutorial for book covers that will be part of a Christmas in July blog hop that will be hosted by Stringtown Home that will start next week!! :) YAY!!! I can't wait!

Another project that I am excited about is another purse! I had an idea hit me last night like a bolt of lightning and had to immediately sketch it out before I lost it. LOL A friend has asked me to make a purse for her so the first one I do will be a trial run. ;)

Then I will be making another gift... But it's a little hush, hush right now. ;) Don't worry, though. As soon as it gets to the recipient I will post a tutorial. ;)

FINALLY after all of that I will be starting on McCall's M6362. It came in the mail a couple of days ago!! WOO HOOO!!! :)

M6362

I will be making view A. Right now I am thinking about going with madras... What do you think??

Don't forget about my giveaway!! You have until Friday Noon Eastern to follow and leave a comment! :)

My Next Tutorial Will Be......

I have it all figured out. Sort of... ;) I know what I WANT to make it just remains to be seen if I can actually DO it.

Let me give you an idea. :)

It starts with these 2 fabrics (that I got for $1 a piece in the remnants bin at Hancock's!!!!) -

I want to try to merge these two looks-

The Sound of Music Collared Romper from ShopRuche.com

Morning at the Manor Top from ChicWish.com.  I found this on Pinterest and the link doesn't seem to work for the blouse. :/ Maybe it's just sold out?

Anyway... I want to make this for c1. I think it would be awfully cute IF I can pull it off. LOL

If I have enough of the blue left over I want to make c2 some dressy shorts. Maybe... Not sure if they would look right or not. What do you think? Blue rayon(ish) shorts for a boy? Will it work???

I ordered a couple of patterns a few days ago and I wish they would hurry up and get here!!! I am anxious to start one of them!!

These are the two I ordered-

M6362

McCall's 6362

I want to make view A in a bad, bad way. And then maybe mix the bodice from A with C. :)

B5046

Butterick's 5046

I fell in love with this one. I want ALL the views! ;)

I reallllly need to make a trip to Hancock's or Joann's. I am in bad need of bias tape. I went through some of my patterns and it seems that every single one that I really want to make needs bias tape!  And I need to pick up some nice buttons. And a zipper foot. And..... LOL The list just keeps growing! ;) OH!! And today is my cousin's Birthday!!(Happy Birthday, Amy!!) and I want to make her some PJ pants. She really likes the owls that I made and I want to either find some owl fabric OR monkeys. OOH! I wonder if I can find sock monkeys??? That would be AWESOME!!! Don't worry, it's not a secret. ;)

McCall's 6467 and Upcoming Tutorials

I have been working on the McCall's 6467 but I have hit a brick wall. I need more bias tape!! And I am so sunburned that I can't even wear regular clothes so I can't go to the store! Let's just say that I have been celebrating No Bra Day for the past 3 days....LOL The seat belt is a real problem for me.... You see, I couldn't quite stay out of the pool yesterday or today... I know, I know... Stupid move... But I LOVE the water!! And I wore a t-shirt and gobbed on the sunblock..... Yeah, it didn't help much. I now have a blistered face and one hand. SIGH..... Will it keep me out of the water??? Probably not. LOL

Anyway, here is where I stand with the McCall's 6467-

Dang, 3 yards of bias tape doesn't go very far does it?? LOL I think it's really helping the look of the blouse, though. The Hubby thought I was making a nightie.... LOL He says the bias tape makes look more like a blouse. ;)

Soooo, since I can't work on the blouse I figured I would work on a couple of tutorials for y'all. ;) Here are the fabrics that I put together. I have a plan for each set but I can't figure out which one I want to do first!

And for Carol.....

Either way it goes, I hope to have a new tutorial up for you tomorrow!!! :) In the mean time you can always check out my tutorials page or my Pinterest! There are tons of tutorials and free patterns and such on there!

McCall's 6467 and Lobsters

Here's the latest picture of the McCall's 6467!

I just need to add the sleeves and figure out how to finish it off. I am all out of the lace hem tape so I am thinking about using some white bias tape instead. I think I have enough of it.

I have actually sewn a stitch today. All that was was done last night.

HERE is what I have been doing today! ;)

2 applications each of 50 SPF and we are ALL still as red as lobsters. SIGH... I knew I should have gotten the 100 SPF!! :/

We went out last night and bought the pool!! Then we called the water guy this morning to come out and deliver the water!! And then we spent 5 hours in the pool. LOL I am SOOOO tired and SOOOOOO red!!! LOL I think I could go to sleep now and not wake up for a week!!

Anything exciting going on in your world?? Any cool new sewing projects??

Silky Stuff and Bobbins Make Me CRAZY!!!

Well... SNOT! This silky fabric is making me a crazy person. I have ripped out the hem on the flounce 3 times!!! I replaced the whole flounce once already... SIGH... I think most of this is due to my bobbin thread going nuts. I have cleaned the little compartment out and changed bobbins but it's still making the bottom stitches too loose. Anyone have any advice???

Here is what I have so far on the McCall's 6467

SIGH... I have ironed and ironed and ironed and still can't get the dang wrinkles out. :/

I think I am just going to cover the flounce hem with some lace hem tape and be done with it before I cause it bodily harm.

I am going to have to make a shell to go under it. It is SOOO thin! Luckily I still have enough of the fabric left (I think....).

SIGH.... Maybe it will look better once I get it all done..... You think???

On a GOOD note The Hubby bought me Wicked Business (Lizzy and Diesel, Bk 2) by Janet Evanovich today!!! WOOO HOOO!!!! Gotta love Carl the Monkey! ;) I can't wait to read it!

Upcoming Projects

This is going to be a VERY busy week for me. Vacation Bible School starts tomorrow and I will be teaching the 4 and 5 year olds! I'm a little nervous and VERY excited!!!! I spent part of the afternoon fixing up my room. :) I'll take some pictures tomorrow once I have it all finished.

This week I will be working on.....

B5209

Retro Butterick '47 B 5209 - I LOVE that hat!!!!

I'll be using this fabric!

And at some point I want to make d a purse out of this....

I'll also be attempting a purse for myself out of this......

That is the fabric I won from Handmade by Hilani. I think it will go nicely with a navy blue. :)

It will probably be a slow week sewing wise but I will at least post some great patterns and fabric pictures to keep you entertained. And when I DO make the purses I will be sure to include tutorials. ;)

I hope you all are enjoying the tutorials. I would LOVE to know if anyone has tried one out.

Don't forget to check out my Pinterest boards. TONS of great stuff there!!!

c1 wore her Fab Mod Dress to church this morning. She loved it. It looked very comfy. I wore this with my petticoat. It was nice and comfy in the heat! :)

So, what are YOU working on????

A Bit of a Medical Rant and McCall's M4769

Soooo.... It's been an awful weekend. Earlier in the week my oldest, j1 was sick. That led to c1 getting sick.... Now The Hubby, d and c2 are all sick!! c2 is my baby, my little fella and he's the worst. Last night around midnight his fever spiked to 104. That's go time! Off to the ER we went. When we pull into the parking lot we actually found a space by the ER which has always meant they weren't busy and we should be in and out. When he gets called back to triage the children's ibuprofen that I had given him before we left had already started working and his fever was down. The nurse asks me if we still want to see a doctor. Well, DUH!!! He had a fever for a REASON! Sure, it's probably viral but it's always better to be safe than sorry. So, we get sent back out to the waiting room (such an apt name!!) where we wait and wait and wait. Then c2 starts throwing up EVERYWHERE (BTW, I STILL had on the toothpaste/grape jelly shirt) including all over himself and me. Yep, now puke has been added to shirt. It takes forever but we finally get someone to help us clean him up and the surrounding area. They give him a gown and a blanket and we settle in to wait EVEN LONGER. We finally get called back to room where we..... WAIT some more. We were there for over 3 hrs and never saw a doctor. Every time I asked the nurse when she thought one might pop up she would say, "She is still with another patient that is sort of sick." The 2nd time she said that I said, "Well, my 5 yr old son is also '"sort of sick"'. He had 104 fever and was throwing up all over the waiting area." I finally got fed up and we left. By that time it was close to 3:30am. I got him home and made him as comfy as I could. He had another fever this morning but the ibuprofen did its job so we will just watch and see.

I am really upset at the service we got at the ER. It was just ridiculous. At one point I heard a doctor (I guess it COULD have been a nurse, but I don't think so) out in the hall just carrying on a long conversation with a bunch of other people. At the end of the conversation she says to someone, "Well, I need to go make my rounds. Hey, have you ever seen a snake bite? Well, come on and check it out!" Seriously??? OMGosh! Like she was all excited!

I really look up to nurses most of the time. I know they have a tough job. And most of the time we seem to deal with good doctors... But this was just NOT acceptable in my book. They are providing health SERVICES that we PAY for! Why should we be treated like we don't matter? This is the 2nd time we have been treated this way at this particular ER..... The last time it was me with chest pains and we were there for 4 1/2 hours with only 15 mins of that being the actual doctor exam. I guess from now on we will be driving the extra 15/20 mins into the city if we think we can wait.

SHEW!! My goodness! J2 and I are taking bets as to which of will come down with it next.

In better news (LOL) I started cutting the fabric for this today!

Image

Here are my pretty buttons!

I should get all the pieces cut today and will hopefully get started on the sewing!! YAY!! :))
