My subject is “ When was the last time you felt "left out" of something? How did you deal with it?”.  It was submitted by  http://followmehome.shellybean.com .  Here goes:

WOW! This was a hard one. I thought and thought and thought about it. I started to get nervous... Would I ever come up with something?? I don't usually feel left out of anything. If I want in, I just, well, go in. I have a speak before I think, leap before I look personality. LOL

Then it hit me. My birthday. Yep, my birthday. You may wonder how someone can feel left out when it's THEIR birthday! Well, let me explain it to you. ;)

You see, Cailey and Colin both have birthdays around mine. Cailey's is the 23rd and Colin's is the 31st. We usually end up having their birthday parties ON my birthday. LOL Not sure how that keeps happening.... It's not that I mind sharing, not at all, but it would be nice to get my own cake every other year or so. And let's face it, even 3 birthdays cakes at the same time will NOT go to waste in this house.

Now, how do I deal with it? Well, that's simple. I don't. I don't say a word, I don't do a thing. I just keep calm and eat their cakes. ;)

It's not like The Hubby or any of the kids read my blog, so I don't have to worry about them feeling bad for me feeling left out. I could pretty much say ANYTHING here and they would never even know.

Muahahaha Evil Laugh Cat

Next year is a big year. It has a 4 and a 0. Yep! I'll be 04 years old! ;) And since it's a big one, I might just get myself a cake.

Maybe one like this -

Or maybe like this -

As long as it's chocolate it will do! LOL

The Hubby made me a cake one year. I have to admit, I was scared, but it was actually very good. Another year, Joshua and Deanna made me one. They did an excellent job.  There is one year I will never forget! I was turning 21 and The Hubby got me a cow cake (I love cows). We were having my party over at his buddy's house and before I could even blow out the candles the cake was ruined. A food fight!! With my birthday cake!!!

You know, if that's the only thing I can come up with, I feel pretty darn blessed.  Let's face it, in this world if the only thing you feel left out of is birthday cake, you're pretty lucky.

Don't forget to check out all the AMAZING bloggers that take part in the Secret Subject Swaps!!! Karen (Baking in a Tornado) is SOOOOO FREAKIN' AWESOME for putting this together for us!!!

  3. My birthday is 15 days before Christmas and I am the oldest of 3 girls. One has a birthday on 12/9 and the other shares my birthday, only she is EXACTLY 8 years younger. I'm often overlooked. But ya know what? That's fine, because, like you said, if that's it, then I'm blessed.

  4. Happy upcoming Birthday Babe,
Now, if I switched my next birthday I'd be 83 and that would NOT be good, LOL.

we moms always put our kids and hubby's before ourselves...even birthdays. Those are some cool cakes, I would love a Jackson Rathbone cake ;)

  6. I was induced with my second so I wouldn't share a birthday with her because dang it, we deserve cake too.
I'm glad you don't have a long left out list because its a crummy way to feel about people you enjoy. I wish I could say the same. Fortunately with so many people around here, no one is left out of anything for long.
I'd shoot for the owl cake... that sewing machine is too amazing to eat!

  7. Well, that was fun. I love that sewing machine cake. Can you imagine? It looks to good to eat! It's wonderful to share your birthday with the kids, but make sure you get lots of cake by yourself. I could reverse my numbers this year...Ah to be 24 again :) THanks for using my prompt. I love what you did with it :)

  11. Even when I tell myself it doesn't matter, I don't NEED cake, my lower lip still quivers a bit. I've made my own cake and it just doesn't have the same impact, does it?
Wish you weren't so far away - I'd definitely present you with a magnificent "04" cake next birthday!

  13. But I could never eat them. So stinkin' cute!!
My friend makes cakes like this. I just take pictures. I refuse to eat.

Pfft, okay I lied, but I wait till everyone else has destroyed it so I don't feel so bad. ;)

  14. I love that owl cake. I'm normally not a fan of owls but that thing is just soo gosh darn adorable. I'm pretty lucky with my birthday that no one else's falls anywhere near it so I get my birthday all to my self, but I'd be happy to lend it to you for your big fourth birthday if it would make you feel any better.

  15. LOL!! Thank you, Erin!! I just might take you up on that! ;)

  16. I feel your pain. My birthday is in between my husband's birthday (4/19) and my daughter's birthday (5/6). I TOTALLY GET THAT!

  19. Lucky you!!! LOL
The Hubby and Jacob both have Bdays that are far away from the rest of the family.

  20. It's nice to be recognized at least one day a year, right? I hate the getting older part, but the cake part is nice ;)

  21. Very true!!!!
I am definitely getting my own cake next year!!!! LOL

  22. You need to do what we do in my family and claim the whole week...that way nobody will ever, ever forget that it's your birthday. I once announced on Facebook the Monday before my birthday that it was, in fact, my b-day week and any and all variations of wine, coffee, an workout DVD's would be accepted. I said, "You only have a week...so get shopping!" Thank God my friends know what a smart*ss I am and they all loved it. But one of my co-workers, sweet thing that she is, went and got me wine and coffee! She said they didn't sell any workout DVD's for a dollar so I was screwed on that point. Haha. Anyway, this might be hard for you since yours is close to the others, so I say claim a week before or after your birthday...maybe your "half birthday" or something. Good luck!! :)
