Well, I'm pretty sure a fly would have been bored to tears at my house this month. :/ We haven't really been doing much of anything.
We're done with school. We just finished testing this week.
It's too hot to do anything outside or go anywhere. SIGH..
We were having a nice cool spring then out of nowhere the gates of hell open up and spew out this heat!!! BLECK!!!!!!!!! Make it go away!!!!!!! How long until fall????

Anyway, here are a few pictures of what we did manage to do.

The girls got new glasses. Deanna won't let me take a picture of her. :/
All I can say is, thank goodness for good vision insurance because my girls have expensive taste! Cailey picked some cute Kate Spade frames and Deanna picked Dolce and Gabbana!! YEESH!!! glasses.

7-11 has new Slurpee straws! YAY! Last year it was mustaches, this year it's animal faces!

We got some swimming in!! YAY!!!
We have some friends that just moved down here. They are staying in the same hotel we stayed in last year. Love that pool! ;)

We rescued an orphaned raccoon.
It was soooo cute and tiny!!!
We gave it to some friends that have done that sort of thing before. There's just no way that I would have to time. That little booger was eating non-stop! LOL

I found a CHEAP rock painting kit at Barnes & Noble. The kids had a lot of fun with it.

So, that's about it. Pretty boring around here. ;)

Well, there's one more thing... Deanna has now gone on her first date (and 2nd and 3rd). SO MUCH hilarity ensued but I don't think she would appreciate me repeating much of it. Although Jacob talking about a machete was pretty funny...
I WILL tell you one thing that Colin said. "What? Deanna's dating? No way. Nuh, uh... We have enough family members! We have way too many people in this house as it is!" I said, "Buddy, she's just going on a date. She's not getting married. He's not moving in."

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!

It has been quite a month around here! Well, maybe not as crazy busy as we usually are... We've still been keeping things more low key while watching to see how Colin will do. (He's doing GREAT!!)

But here are a few of the things that we HAVE done.

We got a piano!!! Now we just need lessons! LOL I used to be able to play simple melodies and read music. I am trying to remember all of that!
The Hubby loves auctions! We picked this up at an estate auction for $20!! AND it's in tune!!!!!

At another auction I got 2 vintage Singers and a vintage sewing box. I need to take pics of them and show you all!! :D

We've had some beautiful days lately. We finally decided to take advantage of them and head out to see some friends in the country. It was the first time that Colin had been out and about since he got out of the hospital. It was also the first time that he got to play with other kids.

We went to our very first baseball game!! YIPPEE!! Someone in one of our homeschool groups had 50 FREE tickets!!! We jumped right on that! Good thing, too because those tickets went very quickly!!!
We did the normal baseball things. We had hot dogs! LOL

And some other treats! ;)

Cailey and another girl from our group got to go out on the diamond and race for prizes for the season ticket holders. They were so nervous but had a good time with it.

Some of the other kids in our group got to run with the pig (don't ask) and they gave everyone pig noses.

I had a really good Mother's Day. The Hubby and Deanna made breakfast. Food is SO MUCH better when you don't have to make it yourself. ;)
Deanna got me a gorgeous bunch of flowers. Nice and colorful just the way I like them.
Joshua got me a GIANT card and 5 pairs of the coolest owl socks you can imagine!!!
Jacob got me a sparkly card with butterflies on them.
Cailey and Colin (The Hubby) got me a $100 Visa gift card which I then used on the fabric below! ;)

These are going to make some really cute things for Cailey.

These will make some awesome pajamas for Colin!

Not sure what I will use these for but I'm sure I'll think of something. ;)

This was my first online fabric buying. I am sold! The Fabric Fairy has the cutest printed knits!! It's sooooo hard to find those at Joann's and Hancock's, especially for boys!!!!

Our toadpoles have legs!!!! YAY!!!! :D We have toadlets! LOL

So that's what we've been up to!! Oh, and this stuff HERE

Don't forget to click the links at the top!!! :D

At Our House:

Me
The Hubby
Jacob (our 21 yr old son)
Joshua (our 19 yr old son)
Deanna (our 18 yr old daughter)
Cailey (our 11 yr old daughter)
Colin (our 8 yr old son)
TJ (Jacob's friend that lives here)

Oh, my... It has been an extremely long month here at our house.

Let's start with the day of the last Fly post.

While many of you were reading Fly posts we were here -

We went to the symphony. Oh, it was just AWESOME!!! The building itself was gorgeous!!
The music just might have moved me to tears. It had been soooo long since I had heard live orchestra music!!!
Cailey, Colin, Deanna and I just LOVED it. We are trying to talk The Hubby into getting us tickets for the Looney Tunes performance!! :)

The next day was Cailey's birthday party.

We had a few friends over for cake, ice cream and FUN!!!!!

Later on that day, The Hubby brought Cailey and Colin surprise birthday gifts.

DUCKS!!!!!!!
Cailey's thinks that Cailey is its mommy. It follows her all over the place. SO CUTE! They aren't very little now but still very cute. ;)

The NEXT day was free museum day!!! (Well, the day of Cailey's party was, too, but we were too busy.) So, we hit two local museums.

Our first stop was the Poe Museum. Deanna was in heaven!!!!
It was so cool even Cailey and Colin enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take pics of the actual displays.
It is housed in 4 different buildings, one of which is the oldest house in the city! How cool!!!!
The gardens were beautiful, too.
They even had a scavenger hunt for skeleton parts set up for the kids! LOL

We all succumbed to the gift shop. ;) Colin got a raven finger puppet, Cailey a quill, Deanna a stuffed Poe, and me a funeral fan.

Then we hit The Museum of the Confederacy. That's when we found out that it wasn't free, only the White House of the Confederacy was. That's OK. We explored the gift shop while waiting on our tour time. And once again we just had to buy something!! I got postcards, Cailey got a paddle ball set with civil war info on it, and Colin got a harmonica.
The tour was fascinating!!! If you want to learn about an extraordinary woman, look up Varina Davis!

After that we had a fairly boring week.

My birthday came and went. I did manage to find a couple of great deals for my birthday. I went into Godiva for my monthly free piece of chocolate only to discover that I had a $10 birthday coupon! WOO HOO!!! Then I went to Yankee Candle and stocked up on $1 tarts AND I had a $5 coupon!

Then we had Colin's birthday party on the weekend.

Once again we had friends over for cake, ice cream and FUN!!!!!
And that's the last fun day we've had.

Early on the morning of Colin's actual birthday, 3 am to be exact, I woke up to find him on the couch gasping for breath. A short time later we were at the ER. He had an extreme asthmatic episode, his first ever. It was the scariest time of my life. To read the full story, see last week's Use Your Words post.

Here is a picture of Colin on his actual birthday. Deanna is giving him cuddles.

He spent that day in a regular room, it wasn't until 5am the next morning that he was rushed into PICU.

He spent a total of 6 days in the hospital, 4 of those in PICU.

He went in on his birthday and came home on Easter.

This was Easter morning. The Easter Bunny brought him 2 baskets!!!

We never got to color our eggs or make bunny butt cupcakes or rice treat chicks. Thankfully the nurses set up an Easter Egg hunt for Colin and another child that was on the pediatric floor. He found the golden egg and won a stuffed bunny.

I learned how much my older children have grown and how much they really love each other. I wouldn't have made it through those 6 days without Jacob, Joshua and Deanna. They were there for Colin, Cailey and me.

It has been a very long road.

I have been having horrible nightmares. I wish they would stop.

Colin should be on his breathing treatments as needed now but we haven't been able to move him to that yet. Right now he is getting them every 8 hours. Hoping that we can move him to every 12 before the end of the weekend. If not, it's off to the doc we go, again.

It has been sooooo hard to keep him in and his activity levels down.
This was his first time out to play since the whole thing happened.

2 things -
1-The boy loved his vest treatments (it is wrapped around his middle and filled with air, it then shakes like an off balanced washing machine during a spin cycle). He cracked up all the respiratory therapists! He would make silly noises through the whole thing! It got to where we (including the nurses) would ask him for favorites.
2- He loves sponge baths and tried to talk me into giving him them at home.

OH! And would you believe, his first night home from the hospital and Deanna wakes up at 2am puking! YILES!!!! She had a 24 hour bug.
Then I ended up with some terrible respiratory bug.
Thankfully Colin hasn't caught either of those things!! Although, I have to wonder if I didn't catch that bug from him. It was vicious and could possibly have been the culprit behind his sudden asthma attack along with the nasty allergies.

So, please, bear with me. I will be back to blogging full time soonish. Right now I am focusing all my energy into taking care of my little guy and seeing how things will be for him in the future.

Fly on the Wall WEDNESDAY??? - February 2015

Welcome to a Fly on the Wall group post. Today 14 bloggers are inviting you to catch a glimpse of what you’d see if you were a fly on the wall in our homes. Come on in and buzz around my house.

If you're new to the Fly on the Wall posts, they are usually about funny little snippets that happen during the past month. But then sometimes people might forget to write those funny little snippets down. Then those people are probably not going to remember what those funny little snippets are. And forget asking the other people in the house. They aren't going to help you some people remember because those funny little snippets were about THEM!!

Here are some of the things I remembered. Then I'll show you some of the stuff we have been up to over the past month or so.

The Crazy People That Live Here

Me
The Hubby
Jacob - 21 yr old son
Joshua - 19 yr old son
Deanna - 18 yr old daughter
Cailey - 10 yr old daughter
Colin - 7 yr old son
TJ - Jacob's best friend

******************************************
So, our power went out last Saturday night for about 10 hours. It was SOOOO cold!! The wind was awful!!
It was SOOO dark!!!!
Here's what happened:

Joshua - Hey, Cloud, hiding in the guise of darkness. Oh, never mind. You're a hoodie.

So, Deanna has a flashlight but instead of using it she stumbles around in the dark kicking things and making a ton of noise.
Me - You could actually use that flashlight, y'know. Or are you TRYING to wake everyone up??

I put Deanna, Cailey and Colin in my bed (king sized) to keep them all warm. Cailey and Colin have been very sick and Deanna was starting to show symptoms. DH and I camped out in the living room. Around 4am, it was just too cold for me and I decided to see if I could sneak into the bed with them.
Apparently Deanna thought I was a blanket thief.
I also grabbed Cailey's face a time or three while trying to get comfy.

****************************************

TJ comes in the next morning, after the power is back on.
I am whispering to him and telling him what happened.

TJ - Why are we whispering.
Me - Oh! Deanna is taking pictures of the cats.

Made perfect sense to me.

****************************************
Remember how I said Cailey and Colin have been very sick?
Cailey didn't realize that if you pass gas while you have a stomach bug, something other than gas just might shoot out.
Thankfully she was already on the toilet.

Cailey tied her blanket around her head. She had tissues stuffed in the top part like a squirrel storing nuts.
Deanna describes it like a magician pulling scarfs from his sleeve.

******************************************

Deanna is playing a game with Colin but she keeps dying.
Colin to Joshua - Why can't she be smarter??

******************************************

Look what The Hubby got me for Valentine's Day!!

Isn't she beautiful??? A 1956 Singer And she WORKS!!! Perfectly!! I just need to figure out how to really use her. ;)

Here's my other vintage machine, a 1964 Kenmore. Unfortunately this one doesn't work but The Hubby only paid $20 for it.

******************************************

We went on a little field trip with one of our homeschool groups. We visited a local supermarket.

This was the highlight of the trip.

The kids even got to pet the lobster! Well, Cailey did. Colin wanted no part of it!!! LOL

******************************************

Before the kids got sick we managed to go to Home Depot for one of the kids' workshops.

We didn't get to go the one at Lowe's. They were both too sick. :(

******************************************

On a warmer day, we did painting on buffalo hides (paper bags) while we learned about the Plains Tribes.

******************************************

We made pictures of longhouses while learning about Woodlands Tribes.

******************************************

I found this really cool kit on clearance at Target and just had to grab it.
They had so much fun with it!

******************************************

This was our first snow for 2015. Not much but they still had fun.

******************************************

Our first Easter candy of the year. Bunny faces! :D

******************************************

Cailey and Colin attended their first Valetine's Day party complete with Valentine's cards to pass out. As homeschoolers, this is one of the things we haven't done.
Cailey chose Frozen cards while Colin had be print out Dr Who cards. ;)
They had tons of fun with their friends! But I forgot to take pictures. :/ I was too busy blabbing. Bad mommy!!

******************************************

Well, that's it for this month!!!
