Our Week in Review - Nov. 28th to Dec. 6th

Ok, so it's a little more than a week, don't be picky. ;)
We have been SUPER busy despite the fact that Colin's allergies are back in a big way. I swear, can't we have everyone in the house healthy at one time??? PLEASE?? What would it take???

Here's crazy Cloud. She still thinks she's a tiny kitten. I find her all over the house in the weirdest places!!! 

How he manages to get his food all over his face is a mystery to me. LOL

We went to pick out our tree the day after Thanksgiving. Colin got to help cut it down. 
I love the little tree farm! The elderly couple that own are super nice! The kids always get a candy cane and the gentleman always helps tie the tree to the top of the van. 
SO glad to be living back where we can go to them. 

Cailey and Colin helped decorate the tree. They LOVE that part so much!!!! 
BUT, can you see the tree listing to one side??? Right after this picture the tree fell over. EVERY single thing fell off except for one drum ornament. 
SIGH!!!!!!! 

This is how it looked the second time we decorated it.
Notice I said how it LOOKED.... Well, now it seems that we have a leak in our tree stand. All the water that we thought was sustaining our tree was actually pouring out all over the presents. 
ARGH!!!!
I bought a new stand but I haven't been able to talk anyone into helping me switch it out. It needs to be done quickly, though... Our tree is drying out!!

 We went to the Home Depot kids' workshop. Cailey and Colin love them so much. They got to make garden stakes for Christmas! They are now lining our walkway. ;)

We went to Bass Pro to see Santa. BUT (there's always a BUT) when we went to get in line we were told that they were handing out passes to see Santa at 3. It was 11:30. :/ Soooo, we went over to watch the fish feeding. After that we stayed for the craft.

I didn't want to drive home just to drive back to see Santa so I took the kids to get something to eat and do a little Dollar Tree shopping. 

We got back to Bass Pro at 2:30 and went to get in line. Here is where I had a "Christmas Story" experience....
We walk up and it looks like there's no one in line. I show the lady my Bass Pass. She says, "That's great but you need to get at the end of the line," and points behind me. 
I kid you not, the line was to the back of the store. 
INSANE!!!
An hour later the kids had finally gotten to see Santa.

They were SOOOOOO happy!!!!

Tomorrow will be the December edition of Blog with Friends!! WOOO HOOO!! The Jolly Jinglers!!!
My part will be a tutorial for the elf hats that the Cs are wearing PLUS elf shoes!! WOOO HOOO!!!

Then coming up soon, the tutorial for the houndstooth circle skirt that Cailey is wearing in the Santa pic.

Deanna owed Cailey $3 and tried to pay her with only 4 quarters. Yeah, that didn't work out.....

When I decorated the house for Halloween, I put a life size cut out of a werewolf on the back on the front door. It was HILARIOUS to watch the kids react EACH and EVERY time they came down the hallway. 

Joshua - No! No! You can't have that there! It almost gave me a heart attack!

Deanna used a new face mask and scared Cailey and Colin half to death.

What the HECK kind of game is that?

What if you wrap your arms around your head and choke yourself?

I am mending very well from the surgery I had last week. The doctor tells me that what happened to me "doesn't happen to normal people". HA! I had him fooled! He thought I was normal! We know better don't we??? ;)

Secret Subject Swap - November 2014

                            

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week, 12 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Your “Secret Subject” is:

Your prompt is: You and four others are stuck in a room with no food or drink, only the clothes on your back. There is a number written on each person’s wrist and a piece of paper on the floor that says only "She is older than me".

It’s cold and dark.

I am not alone. I can hear others stirring and breathing.

My eyes adjust to the dimness. I see shadows moving.

All at once there’s a brilliant light, blinding me for a second.

Where am I? Where are WE?? Now I can see that there are 4 other people.

The room is circular and I swear that it’s moving, undulating. A boat perhaps?

It’s an odd room. All white and silver.

Someone speaks. She asks the room, “What’s going on?”

No one answers. How can they?

Two of them start to move around, trying the walls and door. Nothing.

Wherever we are, we are stuck here until someone lets us out.




Time passes. I wish I knew how long.




We are getting thirsty and hungry. There’s nothing in here but us.

One person is crying, another is in a panic.




Something appears in the middle of the floor. I know it wasn’t there before.

It’s a note.
Someone reads it. “She is older than me.”

No one knows what that could mean.




I feel a burning sensation on my arm. I look down. There’s a number on the inside of my left arm. 4.

We start comparing numbers. 1-5.




There’s another flash of brilliant white light.

Number 1 is gone.

There’s even more crying and panicking now.

“What is going on” repeats around the room in varying degrees of hysteria.




More time passes.




We are tired, hungry, thirsty but mostly we are afraid. Terrified.




Another flash of light and number 2 disappears.

There are shrieks and cries from the 3 of us that are left.






Cold.




Tired.




Thirsty.




Scared.





Number 3 is gone.




I am next.





The End





This reminds me of a dream that The Hubby once had. We were newly married and living with his father who was very sick.

They both had a habit of talking in their sleep.

One night I wake up to The Hubby babbling. Well, I decided to have some fun.

The Hubby - He won’t let me in!

Me - Who won’t let you in?

TH - The little green man.

Me - Why won’t he let you in?

TH - He said I’m too old.
       Look! There he goes!


The Hubby’s Dad (who’s asleep in the next room - That’s OK. We’ll get him.


I about woke them up I was laughing so hard!!!

Sooo, if you were a fly on the wall in my house this month you would have witnessed LOTS of crying, screaming, ranting, raving and fit throwing and that's just by ME!!!!

Yes, we have moved... AGAIN!!!!!! Shoot me now.

I tell ya, I should buy stock in packing tape and boxes.

We moved from a city and house that I loved to a town and house that I DON'T love.... Trying to be diplomatic here. ;)

We are in temporary housing, read TEENY TINY HELL HOLE. Most of my books and all of my crafting/sewing are still in boxes. WAH!!!!!!!!! But we managed to fit it all in the house, sort of.  On the bright side, since we aren't unpacking everything we are already done! LOL But the draw back of not putting stuff in storage? Yeah, we will have to repack it all and move it all again. SIGH..... Did I already ask to be shot? Can you shoot me again? Put me outta my misery!!!

The kids are all doing very well with this move. THANK GOODNESS!!! You see, we used to live here about 8 years ago. We have tons of friends and some family in the area and that helps greatly!

Oh, you are going to LOVE this. We live in such a tiny town that we (ME) had to install the cable, phone and internet ourselves! CRAZY!!! We kept calling and calling trying to get someone out here to hook us up. Apparently they only have 1 or 2 installers out here. Eventually they told us to just go in to the local office, pick up the equipment and do it ourselves. Niiiiice... We did it, though. We have cables and cords running all over but at least we are connected!

Apparently we have MICE!!! MICE!!!! BLECK!!!!! I saw evidence of mice when we first moved in but I was very hopeful that it might have been old evidence... Not so lucky. One of the cats caught and killed one the night before last. Can anyone say EXTERMINATOR???? YILES!! I swear, if I see bugs, I'm out and I'm leaving everything behind.

During this entire move all I have heard is WHY do I have SO many books??? Wah, wah, wah, nag, nag, nag. Wimps. LOL

So, I bet you want to know the juicy details, right? WHY did we move again??? Well, here ya go. The owner of the last company was a lying weasel. It took him 6 months to get our insurance and we never did get our HSA card. Then there were all the perks he promised that he never went through with. The Hubby was supposed to get a $15,000 bonus this month. All of a sudden the owner starts talking about how there will be no bonuses. WHAT??? Then there was the company vehicle that never really happened. Oh, we had one for about 2 wks and then the owner asked for it back because someone else needed it. WHAT???? Then there was the odd behavior and strange rumors. Is the company going under? Is the owner on drugs?? He started stiffing some of the parts providers (one of those providers is a good friend of The Hubby's). Yeah. CRAZY!!! On top of all of that, he stiffed Jacob his last week and 2 days of pay. We may have to get the labor board involved. The Hubby was afraid this would happen, he had watched him do it to a couple of other employees.

I am so thankful that The Hubby has so many job opportunities. We are never stuck in a bad situation. It involves moving long distances but we don't have to take crap. ;) Besides, living in so many different places builds character. You get to see more of the country, meet new people, expand your horizons. Trust me, I should know! I've lived in 6 different states (or is it 7)! I've moved more times than I can count. Shoot, I went to 11 different schools when I was a kid and that doesn't count bouncing back and forth between the same schools. LOL
