Secret Subject Swap April 2019

Secret Subject Swap, a multiblogger writing challenge | www.BakingInATornado.com | #MyGraphics

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 10 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

My subject is  Finish this thought: the most annoying . . .

It was submitted by: https://Bakinginatornado.com

Ohhhhh, boy..... Do we have time for this???? Seriously, so many things seem to annoy me lately. Ha ha. Let me try to narrow it down.

Ok. So the most annoying.... Trying to get my son to wear something other than his Deadpool onesie. He wears it to the store. He wears it to the movies. He wears it to the library. He even tried to wear it to church! I kid you not! I keep telling him that one day it's just going to fall right off him. I give him other options... Like his red Deadpool shirt. Or how about his yellow Deadpool shirt. Maybe the white Deadpool shirt??? See a theme here??? YILES!!! The boy is making me crazy.

And don't even get me started on how inappropriate Deadpool can be for a 12 year old boy.... He's not actually seen the movies. Well, OK... He watched Once Upon a Deadpool. It was PG-13 and I'm still trying to figure out how they got that to happen.....

I guess I should be happy that he's at least wearing clothes. Right??

I'm so happy to be back to blogging. It has been way too long. There's so much that's happened in my life since I last wrote. One day soon I hope to start sharing some it. Some it is rough and heartbreaking and some of it I hope will be inspirational. In either case, I hope it will help someone else....

See you all again soon!!!!!

“Do you believe that people can be forced to do what's good for them?

It was submitted by: Confessions of a part time working mom .

The short and sweet answer is no, you cannot force someone to do what's good for them.

The thing is, that is very subjective. Good for them by whose standards? Mine, yours, theirs? What I think is good for someone maybe the complete opposite of what they think is good for them.
We all have different opinions about everything under the sun.

Now, I obviously don't mean things like drug abuse or drunk driving. Although, in those cases you still can't force someone to not to them. I wish we could. The world would be better off if we could.

That being said, the world would NOT be better off if some of us were able to force our will, and only our will, upon others. It really isn't up to us to decide what may or may not be good for someone else. We haven't walked in their shoes. We don't know what's driving their decisions. We don't know their options.

Oh, people try every single day to make people do what THEY think is good for them. But if you're like me, that gets your back up. When someone tries to force me to do what THEY think is good for me, without any thought to who I actually am, and what I actually stand for, or where I have actually been in my life, they are more likely to meet with resistance or out right rebellion.

I'm not necessarily proud of that. I am usually such a people pleaser but sometimes even I can be contrary. LOL

Most times people think you are asking for advice when what you are really asking for is an ear to listen to you, a heart to feel for you, and arms to hug you.

I think everyone has seen a movie or read a book and found themselves disappointed in the ending. How would you rewrite the ending? ”. It was submitted by More Than Cheese and Beer . Here goes:

Ohhhh boy.... Are you SURE you want me to address this subject??????? Ok... Well, you asked for it. ;)

Let's talk Harry Potter.... The books first and then I'll get to the movies.

Did we HAVE to kill off everyone??? Well, nearly everyone?? WHY Dobby? Hedwig? Mad-Eye?
I understand Sirius and Dumbledore, really I do... But STILL!!! Fred???? Lupin and Tonks????
GRRR!!!

Now, the movies!!!
Why leave out sooooo many great parts?? I understand that not all of the stuff can fit but can we at least TRY??
Why leave out Peeves and Winky???
Sigh... Most of us really would watch 4 hour movies if they followed the books properly.

So, if I were to rewrite all the endings, nearly everyone would live!!! LOL We can kill off the bad guys, actually I would kill MORE of them off. LOL

And if the movies were left up to me, they would follow the books!!!!! So, there! ;)

SUMMER TIME... you won the lottery, well sort of, your best friend just moved and has an inground pool. You rush over with your ___ and ___ and y'all ____
It was submitted by: Spatulas on Parade

Oh, my.... Let me start by saying this, any friend of mine that gets an in-ground pool had just better be prepared. I will be over ALL the time. I will even show up if you're not home. Shoot, I might even pitch a tent in your yard!!!!!
The ONLY good thing about summer is swimming. Ok, the break from daily homeschooling is good, too.... But SWIMMING!!!!!!!

I will swim just about anywhere in just about anything. Seriously.

So, I would rush over with my BOOKS and my KIDS and we would have a reading and swimming party!!!

Man. Who's playing the lottery this weekend???

Almost makes me want to move again so we could spend another month in a hotel with a pool...
ALMOST...

Anyone want to donate $1500 so we can join the local pool???

Summer is rapidly approaching, and many vacation, but not everyone can. What would a "stay-cation" look like for you and your family?  ”. It was submitted by Disneyland in Kentucky . Here goes:

Vacation?? Vacation?? What's that?? It sounds familiar...

We are not vacationers, unfortunately. I LOVE to travel but The Hubby hates to be away from home or work more than a day or two. SIGH.... So,  I guess you could say that we are seasoned staycationers.
What we do during our staycations depends on where we are living at the time. So far, I would have to say that Knoxville is my favorite city for staycationing. There's just SO MUCH to do that you really don't need to travel anywhere else! Well, we went to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg a few times, but really, that's the same area so it doesn't count as an actual vacation.

Here are the posts I wrote about those staycations.

Last year we were in the process of moving (again) so we spent a month by the pool of the hotel we were staying in.

This year we will probably be hitting the art museum A LOT!! It's free and nice and cool inside.

We like to take advantage of all the local stuff any time we can and when you live a decent sized city, there's usually plenty of stuff to do. We'll hit some museums, maybe the zoo, lots of different parks, botanical garden, that kind of stuff. We may even get to visit the local theme park for a day. I am also considering a membership to the local pool.

So, really, it's not much different than what we do throughout the year as homeschoolers. We try to get out and about as much as we can.

I guess this year we might take it bit easier. We'll have to watch and see how Colin does with his asthma and the heat.

OH! I remember what vacation means now!! Deanna, Cailey and Colin and I took a mini vacation to Hilton Head a couple of years ago for our family reunion. SO MUCH FUN!!!

I wish we could go back this year!!!!

Have you ever been an April Fool? Tell a real or fictional story about a time you were played for a fool. It was submitted by The Lieber Family .

Here goes:

I am one of those awkward, introvert types, so there are really too many feeling foolish storied to tell. I usually feel foolish at least once every day!

So.... Umm... Yeah... I have DEFINITELY been made to feel foolish... On several occasions, actually...
Here are two of them because that's about all the humiliation I can take. ;)

Fool #1

When Colin was a baby Deanna had a Chou Chou doll. It was about the same size he was (after a few months). One day I left all the kids home with The Hubby while I went to the doctor.
I guess they heard be pull into the driveway because when I walked in everyone was at the top of the stairs.
The Hubby started to walk down the stairs with "Colin" in his arms. A few steps down he stumbled and dropped "Colin".
OMG! I nearly had a heart attack on the spot. I remember screaming and running forward to try to catch "Colin".
Then I realized it was only a doll.
I could have killed The Hubby. Really, the only reason he's alive is that I don't look good in orange.
He went so far as taking a Sharpie and coloring in the doll's hair to look like Colin's.

Fool #2

I'm not sure if I've told this one before or not... Just bear with me if you've heard it.

One day The Hubby starts to go off outside to shoot his gun. Nothing unusual in that. He did it all the time when we lived out in the country.

Then I hear him shoot. Same ol', same ol'.

Deanna starts yelling that he shot his gun and now he's lying on the ground!

I jump up and run outside, calling his name and asking if he is OK.

The Hubby leans up on one arm and I see blood all over his torso.

I scream, turn around, and start running for the house to call 911.

Then I hear him laughing and calling my name.

It was fake blood.

I burst into tears.

He and Deanna set the whole thing up. He said he wanted to know how I would react in an emergency.

Once again, he is only alive because I look bad in orange.

I am still reallllllly mad at him for both of those incidents. I don't think I will ever get over them.

Your “Secret Subject” is

There are three doors. Which door do you go through?

It was submitted by: The Momisodes

This prompt reminds me of that personality test where you have to choose one door from 10. My problem is that I can't choose just one! I always end up wanting to choose three!!!!

The Yellow Door - You are a quirky person—unusual in attractive way. You get much interest from people in your life. You are an artistic person; you can express yourself in many ways. You are good at many things. You are kind, and you may be one of the costumers to your local thrift shop. You are more likely to join with the society rather than get stuck inside your home.

The Turquoise Door - You are an artistic person who loves you express yourself through music, writing, art and so on. You are open and friendly. Yet, you are deeply private. You are not about to share your stories with others; no one may ever understand you well. Such a deep-down person like you, you sometimes feel the need to come across.

The Red Door - Your eyes light up with confidence. You too much care about what others see you, yet the inside is just a mess. You are somehow a self-destructive person when everything is going tough as you turn against yourself. Remember…you are not living to please others. Be who you are and who you want to be. The world doesn’t always keep watching you!

Maybe this just means I have multiple personalities....

Here's another thing that popped into my head:
What if THESE were the 3 doors -

Blue Tardis Door
Round Hobbit Door
Hogwart's Castle Door

Which one of those would I pick???

Well, I think I would have to stick with my main fandom and go with the Hogwart's Castle Door.

Did you know that the 3 Doors question was a thing?? I had no idea!!
Check THIS out! I had no idea!!!

Your “Secret Subject” is:
Uh oh. You accidentally broke Cupid's leg, and he's unable to complete his duties. Thankfully, the Cupid you hurt is the one tasked with celebrity relationships, not with relationships in general. It is up to you to complete his quota for the two weeks he will need to heal. You're tasked with creating three new celebrity relationships and ending three current celebrity relationships. The created relationships can be rekindled romances. Who are you making fall in love and who is falling out of love?

It was submitted by: The Bergham Chronicles

Oh, my! I've really done it this time.
I didn't mean to hit Cupid with my van! I was backing out and he was in my blind spot!
Now I have to take over for 2 weeks!!!
THE PRESSURE!!!! NOOOOO!!!!!!!

And I HAVE to break up 3 couples. OUCH!!!!!!

The putting couples together part should be fairly easy.

Well, I had better get on with it then....

SIGH...

So for my first couple I am going to have to break Anderson Cooper and his partner up. SORRY! It just has to be done!! Everyone knows he should totally be dating Tim Gunn!! Yes, there's a bit of an age difference there but who cares???? Anderson Cooper's mom is Gloria Vanderbilt! OF COURSE he should be dating Tim Gunn!!!

Couple number 2...... Ok, so Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson should definitely be a thing. I'm all for Hermione and Ron in the HP world but in the real world they would just be SOOOOOO stinkin' cute together!!!!

Number 3..... Maggie Smith and Patrick Stewart. Y'all know that would be awesome!!!! It might just be too awesome for the world to handle!!!

Break Ups

That's tough....

How about no more Kim and Kanye. BLECK!! Just so sick of hearing about them. Blah, blah, blah!!!!

Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger??? Just no!! No, No, NO!!!!!!

For the last break up, I'm going with Posh and Becks just because that is too much perfection for one relationship, people. My goodness.

I am so glad that I don't have this job! YILES!!!!! I couldn't take it!!! All those love lives! No thanks!!!!!

Your “Secret Subject” is:

You're given the option to take a pill that will allow you to tell anyone in your life, past or present, exactly what you think or feel about them. The catch is you will have absolutely no filter. Once the pill is taken you won't be able to pick and choose what you say. It will all come out, bad or good, and you won't stop until the truth is out in its entirety. Do you take the pill? Why or why not? If so, who do you choose? What are some things you would say?

It was submitted by: Climaxed

WOW!What a great prompt!!!! I would like to say that I thought about it for a while before writing but I didn't. My instinct is to say NO! I absolutely would NOT take that pill.

Now, that's not to say that I don't know a few people that I COULD use it on. That's not the case AT ALL. I can think of 3 people right off the top of me head. LOL

I am a fairly passive person. Even when pushed, even when I lose my temper, I try very hard to never say anything hurtful, whether I believe someone deserves it or not. I just can't bring myself to be deliberately hurtful.

You see, words DO hurt. They cut very deeply. I don't want to be responsible for someone else's pain. No thank you. I have had enough of that done TO me, I don't want to be the cause of it. No matter what. I just can't justify that.

You can't take something back once it's out there. No amount of apologizing can take the sting out of mean, hurtful words. They will always be there in the person's mind.

Of course, the other side to the question says it can be good things. Well, I like to think that I already tell people the good things. I try to make sure that everyone I love knows that I love them. I've lost too many people that I love to do it any other way. We are never guaranteed tomorrow. Say what you need to say today, at least the good stuff.

I hope that I build people up. I think we need more of that in the world. I hope that if someone comes to me that I would be able to tell them good things. That I would be a positive influence and not a negative one.

I would like to take this moment to tell all the wonderful ladies that participate in all of the Friday challenges and the Blog with Friends challenges, exactly what I think.
I feel so privileged to be a part of all this with you. You are all amazing, wonderful, thoughtful, beautiful people. I count you all among my friends. Thank you all so much for letting me know you and for letting me be a part of all this with you.

If you could change one event that took place in 2014, what would it be?

It was submitted by: The Momisodes

If you've been following along this year, then you know exactly what kind of year I've had.

There's been some good stuff:
 -we moved back to VA
-we joined 2 great homeschooling groups
 -we've had lots of fun

There's been a lot of bad stuff, too:
-we moved, AGAIN... the 4th time in just over 1 1/2 years
 -we've had some car trouble
-I've had some health issues, including an unexpected surgery

But there's one thing that I wish I could change. Just one. I will take all the bad that I've been through this year and multiply it by 100 if I could change just one thing..... I wish I still had my Dad

I miss him so much every single day. Most days I can deal and just keep myself very busy but then there are days where I just can't....

I know that it will get easier with time but I wish I didn't have to go through it at all. I wish he was still here.

I've had 2 dreams about him since he passed away in August. The first was just about 2 wks ago. In my dream I was told he was dead but I didn't believe it. The whole time I searched for him all over the place.
In the 2nd, which was just a couple of days ago, I get the call that he died but when I get to TN I find out that it was a mistake. He was at the hospital but OK.

Reunion 011

I miss my Daddy.

Secret Subject Swap - November 2014

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week, 12 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Your “Secret Subject” is:

Your prompt is: You and four others are stuck in a room with no food or drink, only the clothes on your back. There is a number written on each person’s wrist and a piece of paper on the floor that says only "She is older than me".

It was submitted by: Someone Else's Genius

It’s cold and dark.

I am not alone. I can hear others stirring and breathing.

My eyes adjust to the dimness. I see shadows moving.

All at once there’s a brilliant light, blinding me for a second.

Where am I? Where are WE?? Now I can see that there are 4 other people.

The room is circular and I swear that it’s moving, undulating. A boat perhaps?

It’s an odd room. All white and silver.

Someone speaks. She asks the room, “What’s going on?”

No one answers. How can they?

Two of them start to move around, trying the walls and door. Nothing.

Wherever we are, we are stuck here until someone lets us out.

Time passes. I wish I knew how long.

We are getting thirsty and hungry. There’s nothing in here but us.

One person is crying, another is in a panic.

Something appears in the middle of the floor. I know it wasn’t there before.

It’s a note.
Someone reads it. “She is older than me.”

No one knows what that could mean.

I feel a burning sensation on my arm. I look down. There’s a number on the inside of my left arm. 4.

We start comparing numbers. 1-5.

There’s another flash of brilliant white light.

Number 1 is gone.

There’s even more crying and panicking now.

“What is going on” repeats around the room in varying degrees of hysteria.

More time passes.

We are tired, hungry, thirsty but mostly we are afraid. Terrified.

Another flash of light and number 2 disappears.

There are shrieks and cries from the 3 of us that are left.

Cold.

Tired.

Thirsty.

Scared.

Number 3 is gone.

I am next.

The End

This reminds me of a dream that The Hubby once had. We were newly married and living with his father who was very sick.

They both had a habit of talking in their sleep.

One night I wake up to The Hubby babbling. Well, I decided to have some fun.

The Hubby - He won’t let me in!

Me - Who won’t let you in?

TH - The little green man.

Me - Why won’t he let you in?

TH - He said I’m too old.
       Look! There he goes!

The Hubby’s Dad (who’s asleep in the next room - That’s OK. We’ll get him.

I about woke them up I was laughing so hard!!!

Now, don't forget to check out all of Secret Subject Swap posts! I wonder which one got mine!!!!!

It's Friday night. You're back in high school. It's football season and there's a home football game. What does your night look like? Are you playing football? Marching in the band? At home hanging with good friends? Playing tennis?

It was submitted by: http://www.eviljoyspeaks.wordpress.com

THE HILL WILL KILL!! I SAID THE HILL! OAK HILL!!!

GOOOOOO RED DEVILS!!!! WOOOOOOO HOOOOO!!!!

Ok, yes... I went to allllllllll the games my freshman year. ALLLL the games.

Not only did I go to all the games but I DRESSED for them! My BFF and I would wear one red shoe and one black shoe. One red earring and one black one. Red shirt and black pants or vice versa. We had our faces painted with OHHS and RED DEVILS!!!

I had so much school spirit that I even won the Spirit Award, twice. LOL

BUT what I remember most about those games is this....
There was the one cheerleader that I really didn't care for... I mean I REALLLLLY did not like her. She was always so mean to everyone that wasn't in her clique. So, one night I was wishing that she might take a little tumble from the pyramid. I turned around to shout at some friends and I MISSED IT!! She took a tumble off the pyramid and I MISSED IT!!! Darn it! I had been waiting for karma and I MISSED IT! SIGH.... My friend got to witness it, though. She said it was AWESOME. LOL

I really wish that I had some pictures from back then. All the pictures I had were destroyed in a house fire or a basement flood.
